Unit Seven: ENTERTAINMENTS AND TOURIST ATTRACTIONS

  How do you spend your free time? Do you like traveling? Entertainment and traveling are indispensable to enrich people's leisure time. Accordingly, to properly arrange your recreational activities and traveling plans is of great importance in people's daily life. In this unit you'll learn a lot of useful expressions concerning this topic.

  In "Face to Face", you will follow the samples and complete all the tasks given to learn the English expressions used in entertainment. This will be very useful in your social life, especially in your communication with foreigners.

  In "Being All Ears", practice listening and comprehension of dialogues and a passage about traveling in Beijing and to other tourist attractions in the world. You will learn the vocabulary and phrases needed to express yourself in English about these subjects. Try to use these lessons when talking in English about traveling.

  In "Maintaining a Sharp Eye", you will read two interesting passages "Luciano Pavarotti ! Bringing Opera to the World" and "Visiting the Gateway Arch". Once you have completed all the tasks relating to the passages, you will have learned something about the life experiences of Pavarotti and America's tallest monument, The Gateway Arch.

  In "Trying Your Hand", follow the samples and tasks provided and get some practical experience about writing traveling advertisements. The Sentence Writing Part mainly deals with the basic rules of grammar, this sections focus will be on present participle and past participle as attributives.
